Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage combines traditional massage techniques with hot stones to bring about deep relaxation on a physical, psychological and spiritual level.

Hot Stone Massage or Geothermotherapy is an extension of manual massage which simply includes the use of preheated volcanic basalt stones as a way of transferring heat to the body to improve blood flow and increase relaxation by warming the tissue. The stones are warmed and placed static on the body or used with oil to glide over the client’s skin to warm up the areas gently. The oil helps the stones retain their heat and lubricates the area being worked on. Different size stones are used depending on the size of the area being worked and the depth of the tissue involved.
This treatment is especially nice during the winter or on a cold day. Client’s with thyroid problems, or fibromyalgia find this type of massage especially therapeutic. Combining aromatherapy with this massage is really nice, especially when an oil is used that is relaxing e.g. lavender or invigorating e.g. geranium. One stroke with a hot stone is equivalent to 10 manual massage strokes, so relaxation results are achieved more quickly and efficiently. The heat from the stones permeates through the client’s body speeding up the removal of carbon dioxide and waste materials. This treatment is very nice for tired aching muscles and frayed nerves.
